Study Purpose and Procedures: We are asking for your participation in a study being conducted by The Department of Psychology, Creighton University, Omaha, NE. Taking part in this study is completely voluntary. This study is designed to assess what kind of motivational tools teachers use in their classroom. You will be asked to complete a brief survey (approximately 10 minutes long) on how you motivate students in your class and to rate a few statements. Your responses on this survey will be completely anonymous, so that you can feel free to be open and honest in your responses.
Risks of Participating in the Study: Your risks of participation are minimal and comparable to the minor discomfort encountered in any standard psychological testing atmosphere.
Benefits of Participating in the Study There are no direct benefits of participation to you, the participant. The results of this study may contribute to the further understanding of the factors relevant to childhood activities and their later consequences in life.
Disclosure of Appropriate Alternatives: Your alternative to participating in this study is to choose not to participate.
Confidentiality: The information you provide during this study will be accessible to Dr. Isabelle Cherney, and the research assistant listed above. Access will also be available to the Creighton University Institutional Review Board. The information that will be available includes all the questionnaire data. In all other instances, any data that is disclosed will be presented in a manner that does not reveal the participant’s identity, except as may be required by law. Your confidentiality will be protected and your name will not be used. You will be assigned a code number, which is not tied to your identity in any way.
Compensation for Participation: No compensation will be given.
